Winter in Kvitfjell
About three hours' drive from Oslo and 50 kilometres above Lillehammer lies Kvitfjell. This winter sports area is one of the most modern in Norway and is growing rapidly in popularity. The snow guarantee and the challenging descents are the main reasons for this.
The young area is modern and was built in the 1990s for the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. In Kvitfjell, alpine skiers competed for gold on the downhill. American Tommy Moe won narrowly ahead of Norwegian Kjetil André Aamodt, who had home advantage. The Olympic
piste is still used for top-level World Cup competitions and is a challenge for every skier who visits Kvitfjell.
